EAST HAMPTON | Private Residence

When a young couple purchased this shingled summer retreat perched on a gentle rise along Three Mile Road, the outside was picture-perfect—but the interiors were dated, drab, and out of sync with their vibrant personalities.

Turning the coastal white aesthetic on its head, RJ used crisp white as a stage for bold color: cobalt and navy in the master suite, flashes of cherry-red in the guest room.

Materials and finishes clash and converse like guests at a Slim Aarons cocktail party (of which, naturally, several large prints hang on the walls): airy rattan flirts with mirror-polished chrome, while nautical knot wallpaper pairs unexpectedly with graphic striped curtains.

The result: seaside calm meets mid-century glam—for a couple who deserved both.
