RJ Hernández is a Cuban-American designer, writer, and stylist based in Greenwich Village, New York. His work—spanning interiors, fashion, and fiction—is united by a love of narrative and a conviction that good design, like good writing, balances intellect and heart.
A Yale graduate, RJ began his career at Vogue and W before establishing himself as a stylist and art director. His work for leading international fashion and beauty brands refined his eye for proportion, color, and atmosphere—skills that now inform his approach to interiors.
He is the author of An Innocent Fashion (Harper Collins), a debut novel optioned for film and nominated for multiple literary awards, and his essays have appeared in publications including The Paris Review and ELLE.
In additional to his styling clients, he is currently at work on his second novel and a series of residential design projects.

Lamda Literary Award finalist for Debut Fiction
“Writing in a fervently literary style that flirts openly with the traditions of Salinger, Plath, and Fitzgerald, Hernández is a diamond-sharp satirist and a bracingly fresh chronicler of the heartbreak of trying to grow up.”
