GRAVITY

In Gravity, starring top model Janis Ancens, RJ collaborated with renowned Swiss photographer Sandro Baebler for an editorial inspired by the impossible architecture of New York City.

“Sandro came to me with this sublime vision of a man suspended midair, and I kept asking myself—is he ascending or descending? That, to me, is the tension of New York City: one minute you’re flying, the next you’re falling. The city is both a launchpad and an abyss.”

RJ paired sculptural tailoring with fabrics that seemed to defy gravity itself: flowing coats by Dries Van Noten, sharply tailored Marc Jacobs suits—strong vertical lines, reflective surfaces, and silhouettes that floating between flight and freefall. The result captured the emotional architecture of New York itself: a charged interplay of geometry, light, and ambition that continually informs RJ’s work.
